Organised: word of the week

This week my word of the week is ‘organised’ because this week has seen me go through my desk drawers. I have thrown out rather a lot of stuff, including techy bits that I’d been saving for no real reason! I’ve also moved all my DVDs off the shelf above my desk and into a specific bookcase, so now I have room for desky stuff above my desk.

It’s interesting how my organisation started. Initially I just planned to move the DVDs. Then I realised I could put my notebooks on the, now empty, shelf, so I tidied up my writing drawer which had housed them before. After that I thought I might as well do the other two drawers! One was full of technology; wires galore, old iPod, never used earphones, CDs and instruction manuals! It took a while, and I will admit I tried to revive my washed iPod. I failed.

Then I moved on to my stationery drawer. Wow! The before photo below is after I’d taken the bigger stuff out! I was surprised at how many of the pens still worked to be honest, I thought loads would need to be binned, but nope!

We popped to Carrefour yesterday and I got a pen pot and a desk tidy which are now sitting in the drawer making it even more tidy than the photo above suggests!

I still need to find a sensible place to put the DVD storage, currently it’s by the radiator, not ideal once the central heating goes on!

The animal charity where I go agility training will be getting a bunch of never used address books, a calculator (who uses those anymore?!) and a variety of other goodies that they can sell to raise some cash. So not only have I got a more organised living situation, a charity close to my heart will benefit too.

How organised have you been this week?

  1. Dean of Little Steps

I’m envious of your stationary drawer. I haven’t bought any new ones lately. It’s great to get our desk/stuff more organised isn’t it? I did that with my desk too, but I’m embarrassed to say, it hasn’t stayed neat 🙁 #wotw

  2. Louise (Little Hearts, Big Love)

Such a satisfying feeling getting organised and glad to hear that the animal charity will also benefit from your efforts too 🙂 #WotW

  3. The Reading Residence

Go you! I saw your pen photos on IG – you can never have too many pens! I always feel better when things around me are organised – it somehow helps my brain feel more organised, too! Thanks for sharing with #WotW

  4. Kim Carberry

Wow! You have been busy! That is an epic collection of pens…
It’s good you can help the animal charity too x

  5. Cheryl | TimeToCraft

I bet you feel like you can use the area again. Amazing how organizing seems to enable you. This week I rearranged my kitchen counters. I now feel I can bake again. Great to be able to hand your unwanted stuff to a favourite charity. A win-win, for sure. #wotw
