I’m not a traveler really, I’m more of a home bird, but at the same time I do enjoy a good holiday. I’ve been lucky to spend many a Christmas in Lazarote, 2 weeks in Florida, a holiday in Fuerteventura, a few weeks in Russia, some winters in Spain and, obviously, some trips in France. So for this week’s The Prompt, ‘travel,’ I had a lot of options of trips to share with you, but I decided the one to share was China.
We were lucky enough to go on a school trip there (when Bird Flu was kicking off!) so we did the touristy bits including the Terracotta Army which was really beyond anything you can imagine. We got to go into a restaurant kitchen and see a whole army of chefs at work, cor blimey it was hot in there, the saying really does make sense!
We visited lots of other places too, had lots of experiences, but my main memory is of The Great Wall.
Little background for you; I have a fear of heights.
About 13 or so steps, of varying heights, up The Great Wall, my step-dad asked Mum and I to turn around so he could take a photo of us, we dutifully did so and BAM, fear struck me! I clung to the rail as he took the photo and then they went on without me to climb part of the wall! I sat part way up the wall, clinging to the rail, waiting for them to return!
Here we are at the bottom of the wall, feet safely on the ground!
