The Prompt: Yellow

Look  at the stars, look how they shine for you

It’s easy, when you’re depressed, to not see the good things in life, to not see the stars. I know that quote tells us that it is only when the night is darkest that we can see all the stars, that is not true for depression. Depression darkens everything, it is not only a dark night, but a cloudy one, everything is black.

Of course, it is in those darkest hours that we need the light the most. I have searched for it during those times, believe me. I have sat with my pen & paper trying to think of something, anything, to live for. I have looked around, trying to see the beauty in life and only seeing the dull, grayness that descends over your eyes.

Anyway, enough of how I feel when I’m depressed, my point is this; even when you cannot see them, the stars are still there. During the day we may not even think of them because we can’t see them, but they still exist. Likewise, even when we are at our lowest and cannot see any reason to live, the reasons to live are still there. It is hard to remember it, but it is important to try.

So if you are feeling low, suffering depression or just struggling to see the stars, please try to remember that they are still there, and they will come out again.

Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And everything you do,
Yeah, they were all yellow.

Coldplay, Yellow

N.B. I’m not depressed at the moment. And sorry if this post doesn’t make a lot of sense, am struggling with Blogger’s Block!

It makes perfect sense. And you are absolutely right, no matter how dark it is the stars are still there and that is such an important thing to remember x Thank you so much for sharing with #ThePrompt x

It absolutely DOES make sense and I thing it’s a lovely way of putting it. Stars are so beautiful as seen from a distance and so amazing in terms of what they actually are, so I think they’re the perfect reminder of the wonderful parts of life that can be hard to see sometimes. xx

It makes perfect sense. Even in our darkest moments we need to try to remember there is light x
