Top Tips: buying glasses online

Today my new glasses from GlassesShop.com arrived in the post. Mine are prescription glasses and I love them! In fact I spent quite some time choosing the frames I wanted, trying to narrow it down from about 20 pairs to just one!

You can also get sunglasses if you’re that way inclined, I’m not really a sunglasses kinda girl though.

Anyway, I thought I’d give you some tips on buying glasses online to demystify the experience for you and make it a bit easier if it’s your first time.

Top Tip #1

Get a printed prescription from your optician: I had some fun deciphering my handwritten prescription in order to place my order!

Top Tip #2

Measure your PD (the distance between your pupils): This is made easier if someone else does it for you, maybe ask your optician to measure it for you while you’re there.

Top Tip #3

Try on some frames in the shop to get an idea what suits you, and then use the virtual trying on service on the GlassesShop website to double check.

I would be terrified that they didnt suit me as well I thought they would or that they didnt fit. Some glasses dont fit right on the nose so have to be adjusted.
Is there much of a price difference?

They’re much cheaper than the ones I’ve had from my opticians. Worth looking into it. Size wise all the measurements are given on each pair so you can get a good idea before ordering.

I’m actually on my way to get a new prescription for glasses. I was thinking about the online thing, but was quite nervous about ordering online. I’ll give it a try now, thanks for the post!
