International Women’s Day & Team Honk

Today is International Women’s Day, and to celebrate some amazing bloggers have flown out to Tanzania to meet some incredible, inspirational women, and they’re sending digital postcards back to some of us other bloggers so we can share some of their experience with you guys!

Last night my postcard popped into my inbox and here’s what Mummy Barrow had to say:

Eliafura makes the most beautiful batiks and tie dyed material. With the support of the Gatsby Trust Eliafura has registered her business and learned important health and safety rules around the chemicals she uses. Eliafura now also trains other women in the village who bring material to her and she shows them how to create these beautiful patterns. They sell easily to not only local schools where teachers like to buy them but also overseas. We bought her entire stock because we loved them all so much and are now working out how to sell them on so we can complete the circle of donation, funding, training, selling, donating.

How fabulous is that?! How amazing is it that through their innovation and our help people are creating lasting change, change that will not only improve their lives, but the lives of their family, their friends and communities.

If you’re on social media, check out the #lastingchange hashtag and share the Team Honk website so other people can find about about their work. If not, word of mouth works just as well! You may also see people heading through your town/city/county with a baton, some dressed in fancy outfits, some on scooters, some are swimming or dancing, but all of them are doing it to raise money for Sport Relief, so think about donating if you see them (or even if you dont!).

How can you help?
