Yesterday saw us toddle off to Lapenty to check out a restaurant, Chez Agnes, for the ex-pat’s “Lunch Bunch.” Not only was the drive there very pretty, the restaurant itself was spectacular. The food was delicious, the staff were fabulous, the atmosphere was lovely and they cooked on an open fire in the restaurant itself!
You know those places where you just fall in love when you walk in the door, it’s one of those! It’s got character and that charm that comes with ye olde fashioned places!
For those who are interested my lunch (dinner) consisted of… charcouterie (meaty bits and bread!), jambon (ham) in a yummy sauce, steak and chips (which was absolutely delicious and I don’t like red meat!), chocolate mousse and a coffee. And the whole thing was a bargain; €12.90 for the lot! It came to slightly more as there were drinks, but still an absolute bargain and left me stuffed!
It was a great experience to see the food cooked on an open fire too, right before your eyes! I know a few places in the UK, and elsewhere, do this now, but there’s something really cool about watching a waitress flit about, serving meals, pouring drinks, flipping your steak over on the fire, clearing up, sticking some sausages on the fire, etc, etc.
We shall certainly be returning, on more than one occasion, and taking friends! So definitely worth a visit! And oh…the food! *rubs belly*
