The Girl who Played with Fire – Stieg Larsson

If you’re a writer, read this book. Take notes as you read. Then when you are next writing, do the exact opposite!

It has taken me forever to finish this book, partly because I stopped reading for a while because it was so awful it put me off reading all together. Then when I finally got a grip on myself and forced myself to battle through it I had to take breaks because it was literally mind numbing. Never, ever, have I had to take breaks from a book before because of the boredom it induced.

Plot wise, it’s awful. Writing wise, it’s awful. Character wise it’s beyond awful.

I genuinely have nothing good to say about this book. I will certainly not be even attempting the third one and can only hope that the first two will now provide kindling to get me through this cold weather.

0/10

Having watched the original Swedish film I would recommend watching that rather than reading this book. Although the poor plot does mean that the film is not half as good as the first film.

This post is right on time with a book I’m reading just now, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Now, I’m only on the third chapter but already I’m thinking why am I reading this book??? So many people have hyped this book up for me, maybe I’m just over-expecting. I hope it gets better as I carry on, as I can’t not finish a book!
