Some of you will know that Iย started puppy training classes with TiLi just over a year ago, she was a mere pup when we first went, so small and full of energy. After we’d done several weeks of basic training, we tried some recalls over jumps (where you take the lead off, have them sit & wait while you go to the other side of the jump/s and then call them to you), every time we tried recalls she would charge around the field with gay abandon! She had no control, I had no control, she was just thrilled to be free.
Fast forward a year to a week ago; one of the teachers told me to give her a go off the lead on a couple of things. I did. She nailed it!
So this week, of my own free will, I chose to run her off the lead on every circuit. Aside from 1 hiccup when she went for a little wander midway through a circuit, she was amazing! I am so proud.
It is amazing to see how far we have come, together, as a team. My confidence in her has grown, as has hers in me. She now knows the names of all the pieces of equipment and waits for me to tell her what to do next, she knows what she’s supposed to do with each piece of equipment too. Most importantly, she enjoys it. Loves it, in fact!
Below is some video footage taken by my step-dad yesterday who came to see how much she’d progressed. There’s also footage of Rupert, our other pooch, wondering exactly why he is being made to do these obstacles! I don’t expect you to watch all 10 minutes of it, I know it’s probably boring for you, but every time I watch it back I grin from ear to ear at how far Team TeePot has come. I might shake the whole time we’re at agility training, but TiLi does me proud every time.
My Superstar.

Love it!! Well done! It really builds such a bond and understanding between owner and dog. I loved doing it with Holly until she got injured!! X

It really does, doesn’t it. I’d never done it before, none of our other dogs were trained, but it’s definitely a great confidence and bond builder, and good fun too!
Aww, poor Holly, hope she’s doing ok now?

What fun! I had a friend who used to do agility training with her Schipperke. It was so much fun to watch, and a great way to meet people (and socialize your dog!)

Wow… so so much fun! I used to do agility many years ago with my collie, It was just such a great thing to do, it got me moving and interacting and our bond was beautiful! I love the video too! #happydays

Loved the video.
I would absolutely love to try this with my mini schnauzer some time. Mind you, she has selective hearing at the best of times! ๐

Thanks!
Lol, TiLi used to be an absolute nightmare if I let her off the lead, just takes time and patience with them. You should give it a go, it’s good fun!
